Airgap Audio Privacy Policy

This privacy policy applies to the Airgap Audio Android app, published by Ridgeline Labs (“we”, “us”, “our”).

Summary

Airgap Audio does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data off your device. The app ships with no INTERNET permission — it physically cannot phone home, sync, stream, or track you. There is no networking code, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising. It just plays the music already on your phone.

Information We Collect

None. Airgap Audio does not collect any information about you, and it sends nothing anywhere — it has no ability to make network connections.

Local Storage

Airgap Audio stores the following on your device only, using standard Android storage, so the app can work the way you expect between launches:

• App preferences — your chosen theme (light / dark / system), seek/skip step, and resume-on-open setting.
• Playlists you create — playlist names and the list of tracks you add to them.
• Playback state — your current queue and playback position, so you can resume where you left off after a restart.

That is the complete list. No identifiers, no listening history sent anywhere, no profiles. Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

Your Music Library

Airgap Audio reads the audio files already on your device through Android’s MediaStore in order to list and play them. It only reads this content to show your library and play it back. Your music, album art, titles, and artists are never uploaded, copied off the device, or shared.

Permissions

Airgap Audio requests only the minimum permissions needed to play your local music:

• Read on-device audio — READ_MEDIA_AUDIO on Android 13+, or READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE on Android 12 and below — to find and play the music on your device.
• Foreground service for media playback (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK) — to keep playing in the background with lock-screen and notification controls.
• Post notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS on Android 13+) — to show the playback notification.

Airgap Audio does not request the INTERNET permission, and it does not access location, contacts, camera, microphone, or any sensor.

Network Access

Airgap Audio makes no network connections of any kind. It has no INTERNET permission, so it cannot stream, sync, check for updates, or send analytics. Everything it does happens entirely on your device.

Third-Party Services and SDKs

Airgap Audio uses no third-party network services or tracking SDKs. There is no Google Analytics, no Firebase, no advertising network, and no crash reporter. The app uses standard Android media libraries solely to play your local files on-device.

Data Sharing

We do not share any data because we do not have any data to share. Nothing leaves your device.

Children’s Privacy

Airgap Audio is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no information at all, we do not knowingly collect personal information from children either.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
